I don’t want this blog to turn into a pity party for me. Though I have to admit, I actually feel better about myself after reading such supportive comments from so many viewers after one biting negative one comes in. But I could not resist sharing another with you. It made me laugh and my co-workers. Here’s the back story. On Christmas Day, I wore a wide-collared, gold jacket from a European-based, trendy chain store called H&M. Don’t think I spent a lot of money on it. It was a hand-me-down from a local salon owner and it still had the tag on it! I have only worn it twice but it has generated more feedback than my less flashy, regular wardrobe. So far, two women think I look beautiful in it, one lady thinks it looks like Charlotte wrapped me in Christmas paper, a guy thinks the collar makes my head look small and this:
My husband wants me to ask you never to wear that jacket you had on Dec.25th 2008. the gold flowered one with the HUGE collar. He says you look like the predator in the movie predator.Like its skin…or hide…I guess…Just thought you would like to know if something “just doesn’t work”.
Just his opinion….
Honestly, I don’t know if I will ever wear it again on-air. The clothes should not distract the viewer! Ha, ha

Tara, I have been a faithful reader of your blog! Love it!!! I have never commented but just had to on this one. I can’t believe that people actually take the time to relay their negative thoughts. Who cares what you wore to work. Did it really matter, you got the news across right?? Does it really make people feel better about themselves if they are negative about others?! Well, for what it’s worth, I never notice what you are wearing!! Good or Bad!! Keep up the blog. I can relate to so much of what you say. Have a Happy New Year.
Any chance of a picture in this get up? It sounds absolutely fantastic – lol! Because I tend toward Oppositional Defiance Disorder comments like these would make me want to wear it at least once a week.
Just for the record, I personally love it when you post these kinds of viewer comments. I had NO IDEA people actually wrote things like this & sent them in to people they don’t know personally. I think you could save them up & publish a book!
Actually, I’m predicting your blog will eventually get the same treatment. I see you on Oprah talking about pumping between sessions of the news – LOL. It’s so much more real than all the fake stuff we normally see about people on television.
I love the comments people leave, don’t people know that somethings are just better if left unsaid. I think it is great that you take it all with “a grain of salt”. I actually find myself looking forward to your newscasts now that I feel I “know you” from your blogging.
Glad to hear you had a good holiday.
I can’t help but laugh at that. Some people have way too much time on their hands!
I love, love, love your blog. I try to read it everyday and think you are a stitch! My co-workers and I always get a kick out of your comments and your children!! Keep it up. Oh – I don’t care what you wear – I focus more on your news than your wardrobe.
Wow, I guess some people have to find something to complain about. You are beautiful no matter what you wear. Both inside and out. There are always going to be someone that doesnt approve. Next time this happens, ask them to send you a photo of themselves so you can critic their choice of clothes. Or better yet, offer to take you shopping with them picking up the bill. I remember as a kid not fitting in because of what I wore. Today, I dont really care. If they dont like it, look away or change the channel. Stay as you are, you are doing awesome!
I think you should perhaps auction this off for charity, people often spend obscene amounts of money on things like this. People get famous for being noticed good or bad. I usually get the bad end and find I am so much more popular than I had ever imagined this way
So….do people write in and complain about what the men wear?
I am very concerned that the guys are being left out
My mother and I were watching that newscast and actually had a whole discussion about your jacket. But we thought it looked fab! It was stylish and trendy, without being too over the top. It was nice to see something a little more “fashion forward”- plus, the high collar complemented your hair nicely, and the gold colour worked well with your skin tone. Not everyone can pull off a jacket like that- but you rocked it!
I thought what you wore on Christmas was neat. Thank You for being at work on such an important holiday! Also, thanks for your blog. It somehow makes me feel better about my crazy life, perhaps realizing that I’m not alone.
I bet people leave these nasty comments because they are sooo jealous of you. They want to hurt you and it’s their way of satisfaction and no matter how hard they try, they can’t even come close to being like you.
You are doing a GREAT job with everything!! Keep it up and don’t let these jealous people bother you at all. Maybe, just maybe someday they’ll grow up!!!
I love the jacket!! I would love it if you could wear it on my Birthday which is Monday the 5th of January! I think it is so awesome. Some people don’t know what fashion is! WE LOVE YOU TARA!
Hmmmmm……. I thought that the jacket was totally awesome! Please keep wearing it. You looked Fabulous in it!
Does anyone ever email Ron about the spaghetti sauce on his shirt?
