Let’s get RIPT!

Some times the right thing happens at just the right time.  After slacking in the diet and exercise departments the past few weeks, I confirmed the other day about 10 pounds have crept back on.  I felt so much better about myself earlier this year when I was eating better and working out regularly.  Enter my friends at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.  I’ve been asked to take part in the new Resistance Interval Physical Training (RIPT) program at Covenant Wellness Center in Waterloo.  The 10-week program runs from January 11-March 19.  Classes are three times a week, Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays and are offered three times each of those days (5:45am, 12:10pm, 5:30pm).  Here’s the deal.  I will participate for free in exchange for blogging about it.  And if you’re within driving distance, can fit it in your schedule and want to join me… please do!  Call Covenant at 272-2313.  Sorry I’m not sure how much it costs!  But I do know you get a Wellness Center membership for the 10 weeks along with conditioning classes, strength training and nutrition planning.

Here’s a little more information, including cost:
“The cost of RIPT is $150 for non-member of Covenant Wellness Center and $50 for current members. Participants in the RIPT program also receive full Wellness Center membership during the 10 weeks, a ‘RIPT’ T-shirt, and calorie counter tracking book.”

wouldn’t it be great if somehow KWWL or a sponsor could donate a membership to someone or a few woman who can’t afford the program but would love to do it with you? Just a thought . . .

Just read in the Iowa City Press Citizen that KWWL is building a new facility in order to broadcast news in HD? Oh oh . . . now you not only have to worry about looking good for the camera, you have to worry about looking GREAT for an HD camera! Those things show EVERYTHING! (ever watch Conan Obrien – Yikes!) I hear make up people in TV have quite a lot more to do these days because of HD? OK . . . OK – I’m just teasing you. I can’t wait to see both you and Ron in HD. You will look amazing! ;-)

I love John’s idea – I too would love to participate, but cannot afford the fee! These days making sure the 4 kids are feed and clothed comes before any extra spending! Good luck Tara!

Good for you, Tara! We’ll be watching you getting “RIPT.” We are pulling for your success!

I’m in Waverly so won’t be able to join you. Darn!

I am with John also. My husband lost his job. I quit smoking and gained 30 pounds, so can’t afford to join and need to loose weight badly. I have tried everything with no such luck. I need support and help. Good luck.

How is it you can build a new facility for HD, yet you are laying off what 9-10 people. People who have been there many years and some who have not. I dont get it! These are families we are talking about. I was just thinking, somewhere in the bible it says man will destroy itself. All this new technology is destroying us. People are losing their jobs, family are losing their homes, families are losing insurance, I dont understand. You know people say ” only buy American made products and help save the jobs here in America, well what is your part in that!
