From the title of this entry, I assume you’ll read it. I am going it alone for the first time tomorrow leading a Weight Watchers meeting. During the past few months I’ve been in the process of training to be a leader for the company since I have been a lifetime member for 9 years. The topic I’ll detail is moving more. To remind members how much things they do everyday actually count as exercise, I’ve been scrolling through the hundreds of “activities” on my WW iPhone app to pick some as examples. One of my flip charts highlights the fact that cleaning out the garage for a half-hour counts as 1 activity point. That means it’s the equivalent of burning 50 calories. Of course being the resourceful type, I pressed “s” to see if sex came up on the list. It’s not there. But the topic was mentioned in a past meeting I attended. No word on how many activity points you can accumulate from a little TLC, but good news for the women out there who regularly get “headaches”… a little cardio in the bedroom could get you an extra candy bar. With no guilt. Just something to think about.

Tara – I’m very curious who you will be at your first meeting tomorrow. Will you be Leader Tara Thomas, KWWL Anchor, dressed to the “9′s” – hair perfect – all fancied up – or will you be Leader Tara Thomas, mom of 2 active kids, likes to dress down, I’m just like you, (but you’re really not).
I’m gonna bet you will be Tara Thomas, the TV personality. You never give that role up. Even to be just a mom. Which is a proud job.
Healthstatus.com can tell you how many calories you will burn during sex. Put in the amount of time for your “activity” and it will do the calculating for you!
Really Karen? Tara has probably worked my hard to get the career she has to today which happens to be in the public eye maybe Tara Thomas the TV personality is just who she is! Kudos for having a career, being a wonderful mom and stll having the energy to be in other things like Weight Watchers. Kare since you probably don’t know Tara on a personal level maybe you should judge. Otherwise you just come off as a very judgemental and jealous person.
No, I’m not jealous – and ain’t gonna go further. I apologize if I offended anyone – even Tara.
I’m willing to bet that Tara will be a perfect combination of all that’s necessary to conduct her WW class. Yes, she’s on TV. So what? If that’s what brings more people to her class and motivates them, then I think that’s great. But she’s also a woman, mom and wife who’s struggled like the rest of us to make ourselves healthier and happier. Wish I lived in the Cedar Valley area–90 miles is a bit far to drive.
Karen, Karen, Karen…you seem to lead a miserable life. Look up to Tara. She’ll show you how to pull yourself up by your boot straps.
Keep up the great work, Tara! I look forward to reading your blog everyday!
BTW Tara – you were a fabulous leader!
I enjoyed it much… and it encouraged me to move more this week – my hubby likes the idea of activity points for ALL exercise! LOL! And I’m moving more this week – so far… hopefully will keep doing so in the work week when things are more chaotic!
Blessings to you!
