It was nice to announce to Dave and the kids today that Mommy had made NO PLANS for Saturday. A rarity, it seems, these days despite an initial plan to keep the summer months under-scheduled. I called tomorrow a “family day” and told Charlotte and Thomas we could do whatever they wanted. So many of you can guess what my 6-year-old immediately suggested…. a certain pizza and video game establishment with a giant mouse. I said we could go there without thinking it through more clearly. It’s not that I mind the place. Just that when you conjure up bucolic images of family days gone by, picnics and popcorn come to mind before tokens and electronics. Maybe we can get a bucket of chicken and eat it on the paved parking lot out front.

Yes that would be a favorite choice in our house too. Enjoy the day!! Unplanned days are the best. Always lower key. Easier to get that feeling in our hearts we all need.
It’s nice to show children that you can have good family time without spending alot of money
too.
Maybe next time you can think of a fun way to spend the day without going out and spending money. A family game in the backyard, bike ride, ending with a picnic dinner under a shade tree at the park or in your back yard, lots of things to do that would make it special family time.
Hope you had a good day, it’s always nice to spend time together, have a day to just relax and have fun.
