Had someone told me years ago when I watched pro wrestling on a regular basis and my favorite personality was Rowdy Roddy Piper that I would someday find myself in the ring at a museum honoring some of these guys, I would have laughed:
KWWL’s Tara Thomas to participate in professional wrestling show
WATERLOO, Iowa— Tara Thomas, a news anchor for KWWL, will serve as a guest ring announcer for the Impact Pro Wrestling show on Friday, July 13 at Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7 p.m.
The show is part of the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame weekend hosted by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum.
“I grew up watching pro-wrestling on TV and attending shows in Peoria, Illinois,” said Thomas. “A highlight was slapping Andre the Giant’s hand as he entered the arena. I’m looking forward to being a part of a Dan Gable Museum event.”
Several of the biggest names in professional wrestling and amateur wrestling will be on hand for the event. Kurt Angle, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, Road Warrior Animal, Dan Severn, Bill Apter, Jim Ross, Baron Von Raschke, Gerry Brisco, Danny Hodge, Larry Hennig, Mad Dog Vachon, Fritz Von Goering, Bob Roop and Dan Gable are scheduled to appear during weekend activities.
Ringside seats to the professional wrestling show are $15. General admission tickets are $10.
