Here we are sitting at the airport Friday night, waiting to depart for Vegas for our anniversary weekend.  I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been to the oasis in the desert but I can tell you the total money we’ve ever spent on slot machines is probably 50 bucks.  We’re big eaters, not big gamblers.  Already I’ve mapped the walking distance from our casino to all the ones in the 24-hour deal where for 45 dollars you can go in and out unlimited times to six different casino buffets.  My favorite is Paris.  There is something magical about eating a crepe covered with bananas and chocolate fresh off the skillet.  Even if the Eiffel Tower outside is fake like the painted clouds on the walls.  In addition to the buffets, two things keep us coming back to Las Vegas:  cost & people.  Direct-flight vacation packages there always seem to beat the prices to other cities.  And I argue that Las Vegas has the best people watching in the country, if not the world.  The casino pools are like resort hotels so you can lounge around under an umbrella all afternoon, pig out at gourmet buffets (Wynn comes to mind) and always find a dance floor.  These are three things Dave and I like to do on a kid-free vacation.  So here’s to 7 happily married years and a total of 14 together.  And cheers to Nana/Papa for taking the munchkins and cutting a red velvet cake in our honor.
