Charlotte grabbed what she thought were her jeans from a clean laundry pile this morning. They fit but were too short. Why? Because they were her little brother’s. The 26-months-younger boy she used to tower over and out run and out weigh is gaining on her. He wears the same-sized pants (5 or 5T). He is only about ten pounds lighter and not much shorter. This threatens her reign a bit. Putting up the aforementioned laundry today I walked in Thomas’ room to discover the pictured hangar on the floor. That’s when you know your youngest is growing up. When he’s tall enough and strong enough to reach up and pull down a shirt so hard it snaps the plastic hook off. What’s next? Punching a hole through the wall when he’s mad at his sister?

I had the same thing when my kids were little. I just used different colored coat hangers, so that eliminated the clean clothes hitting the floor because it wasnt theirs. The joys of little ones!
During my second pregnancy, my daughter, who was 4 at the time, had a fascination with pairs figuring skating. She wanted a brother so badly because then he could lift her in the air and float across the ice. Well, the ice skating thing never happened but during his high school athletic days they performed a “fun” act for talent night at a camp (she was a college counselor and he the attendee). She was probably 20 or 21 and he was 16 or 17–he proceeded to bench press his sister to show how she “helped” in his football strength training. Lots of trust going on with that act. Oh, he was 6’5″ and about 230 lbs. She was 5’7″ and about 125 lbs.(if soaking wet). He said he used her for his warm-up reps. Good times!
