Elf Update

It’s official.  I have received word from up north that Ernie, our shelf elf, is on his way with an ETA of midnight at our house.  (Of course that’s when I’ll be home from work digging him out of his basement box he’s been hiding in all year.)  The plan is for Ernie to discover Christmas gifts already purchased by Mom and Dad for Charlotte and Thomas, wrap them with our paper and put them under the tree where he’ll be perched to greet them tomorrow morning.  Then Dave came up with a brilliant plan–one far exceeding the pea brain intelligence of an elf.  He said Ernie could take some of the wrapped gifts away at night should bad behavior prevail.  I love it!  Gifts today, possibly gone tomorrow… talk about your month-long incentive plan to be good!  I can’t wait for Ernie’s beady blue eyes to shine when the sun rises.

So enjoyed your sharing at Ascension Lutheran Sat. I am a member there and love my church and church family.

My 7 and 5 year old grandsons in Geneva, IL have Elfs at their home, they come out at night and sometimes get a little troublesome!! When the children get up this morning, they will find the 2 Elfs in the bathroom sink with a few miniature marshmallows. Son Ryan says he and his wife begin to run out of ideas closer it gets to Christmas.

    Enjoy your many blessings–

    Marie

Thanks for sharing your Saturday morning with those of us who were privileged to attend the Advent Brunch at Ascension. I wonder if you could tell me the name of the devotional book that you mentioned. I forgot what it is already. Thank you.

Your husband has a brilliant idea. Our elf is already out and I have already threatened to take back toys when my daughter is misbehaving. I will be implementing this right away!

Clever…hope you don’t lose them in the process of taking from/returning to the tree!

Maybe another idea for you with the Elf…a friend of mine placed her cutting board on the counter, made an impression that looked like a snow angel, and laid the elf on top of it with the paper caption of “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”…she told her girls that Holly (their shelf elf) missed the North Pole’s snow. Haha…too cute.
