I’ve mentioned before my parents and husband agree, at times though book smart I appear to be lacking in common sense. Two glaring examples to mention. Friday night some friends and I were discussing the temperatures of our thermostats. (For the younger readers, when you are older and married with kids this is a hot topic moms discuss since our body temperatures are the opposite of the men in our lives.) My one friend said they keep her house at, I think, 67. I was surprised because I said last I knew ours is set at 78. What? Insert shocked looks on girlfriends’ faces. They said I must be mistaken. Of course Dave later informed me I was sadly mistaken. He sets our house at 68. I obviously have never looked at, let alone adjusted, the thermostat. Now comes the bigger DUH moment. I watched my good friend and neighbor’s children this morning so she could get her hair done. Her 2-year-old son and I had to pick up her daughter from preschool at 11:30am. Note to self: Next time you offer to babysit and pick-up someone’s kids, confirm where they go to preschool. When I walked in to one, asked for her daughter by name and was told no one by that name goes there… I was embarrassed. Fortunately I was running ahead of schedule and was able to make it to the correct school in time. Details. All in the details.
