For those of you medically knowledgeable, you may recognize the rotator cuff tear pictured above taken today during Dave’s left shoulder surgery. The repair involved insertion of an implant that adheres the muscle to the bone so it can be sewn back in place. Thanks to a block down his arm, Dave’s pain is currently controlled. But the procedure was extensive enough to keep him overnight in the hospital.
The kids stayed at our close friend Darlene’s house all day, thankfully. I braved the roads to pick them up, go home, then come back to the hospital for a visit now. It was sad, actually, explaining the whole thing to the kids. Thomas started crying and said he was scared at the mention of Daddy getting a needle in his arm and sleeping in the hospital. Fortunately it’s just for one night and could obviously be much worse.

I remember when my husband had knee surgery
when our daughter was about a year old. When he came home from the hospital with a wrap on his knee, she was afraid to be near him for a
bit and would cry. That was hard to watch.
Best wishes to Dave and your family for a return to normalcy….if there is such a thing.
Thanks for the update. Praying for a good recovery for Dave and calm for the family.
Hope and prayers for fast recovery and comfort for fears and pain, to each of you!
Ah sorry to hear about Dave and you had a blizzard. here I am sitting in Jamaica having a great time. WIshing Dave a quick recovery and all is well soon.
Hope recovery is well for him! He will be in tip top shape in no time! I have been an orthopedic nurse for 9 years so I have to ask, who did his surgery?
I’m sure you will be a great nurse to him Tara! We know how those men can be babies
