Surgery Ahead

So much for not having any surgeries this year.  My husband, Dave, is going under the knife Wednesday to get a tear in his shoulder muscles repaired.  Ouch!  He’s been dealing with the pain for a while–limited mobility and sleep discomfort.  An MRI Friday confirmed the need for surgical intervention.  Good thing it’s his left shoulder as he’s right handed.  It was 15 years ago next month, oddly, that I first met and started dating Dave.  Within the first couple weeks he was lifting weights and heard a snap–his rotator cuff in his right shoulder.  Thankfully surgery techniques have drastically improved and this time around only four tiny incisions will be made versus the 3-inch scar he has from his first one.  A pain block is also administered, unlike his other surgery that left him in a lot of pain initially.  A shoulder sling will keep his arm in place during healing, but the coming weeks won’t be easy for such an active guy.  Nurse Tara will do what she can to help!
