Over the years I have done and said some bizarre things as soon as my microphone is clipped (turned off) during live newscasts. Last night’s 10pm news had an unexpected blooper when I had no idea my mic had been turned back on. Going to a commercial Ron was talking about the graphic that shows the top stories trending on our station website. Once he stopped speaking the red light indicating our mics are “hot” or on in the studio goes off and we don’t hear ourselves talking through our earpieces. If it sounds confusing, it’s not really. Until the director accidentally turned my mic back on right as a box elder bug jumped on my jacket. “Get off of me!” I shouted clearly over the air. Instantly Facebook and Twitter posts questioned why I said that. Did it involve my co-anchors? I had to explain what happened after weather. That’s all we need is for people to think something inappropriate was going on behind-the-scenes. It wasn’t. We did laugh about it A LOT.

I didn’t catch that, I snoozed off, which I wouldn’t have!
That’s too funny!
I heard your explanation… and I laughed and laughed and laughed! I thought “this will make good material for the next women’s talk Tara does!
I heard it too. How funny! I thought you’d all be in National Enquirer!
