Frenzied Friday

Have you ever found yourself sitting on a child step stool with bloodshot eyes, a baby in the nearby bathtub and a toddler trashing the rest of your house?  That’s my scene right now with a laptop on my knees, of course.  It’s 20 minutes later and Thomas is out of the tub unaware of the shots he’ll be facing at his 15-month check-up this morning.  Nice when he’s still too young to understand.  Charlotte dressed herself and picked out a shirt her daddy bought that reads Pretty Like My Mommy on the front.  Great, now more people will think Mommy’s on an ego trip.  The reality, I’ll be wearing no make-up, sweats and a ball cap when I’m seen with her in it.  Earlier I was chasing Charlotte who was chasing Thomas with an edible cereal straw in hand.  He snatched it from her treat bowl.  If Daddy could see us now.  Crumbs flying and tempers flaring on the second floor.  This would never happen on his watch.  Food is to be eaten at the table and sippy cups stay upright off the floor.  I mopped up some apple juice in the living room already today.  Mommy is laid back to keep her sanity, let’s face it.  Mommy can’t wait for a free moment to watch even two minutes of the season premiere of Real Housewives of OC.  Mommy is glad it’s Friday and Daddy will be here with her all weekend to juggle twenty parenting balls and try not to drop them.

Well said, Tara! Even though we don’t have kids yet, I can relate and see my husband and my parenting roles falling in line with yours and Dave’s. We’ve had many discussions on him being the stringent one and me the laid back one. We’ll see! Charlotte’s shirt is too cute and what a compliment that your husband bought it- so sweet. I also look forward to the Real Housewives episodes! What a reality show to escape from our reality, right?

P.S. I would be the mom with no make-up, in sweats and a hat too! Great taste and glad to see I’m not the only one. At least we are comfortable enough in our own skin.

    Hey Tara!

Umm, we all hear your plight. Thank God that you have such an awesome and supporting husband and father to you and those precious children. Maybe he has a clue and maybe he doesn’t. But, you know how gifted you and the children are to have such a wonderful husband and father. I’m sure there are times in his life when he thinks “I can’t wait for my honey to come and help me out too!” Don’t you ever think about the single mom’s or the stay at home moms who don’t have that kind of support? I know I was lucky too and I can’t imagine for those who aren’t so lucky. Is it luck? It sure can feel lucky can’t it? We all feel your appreciation for him and for your little ones - the love. Hats off girl! Never let them go a day without telling them what they mean to you though. Not a day! It’s just too good to pass on the moment.

    Hi Tara,
I enjoyed this blog. I’ve been there, too!
This time does pass quickly so try to enjoy those blood shot eyes! HA!

Loved the new fall and Halloween photos on your page. CUTE!

Hope Thomas got through the shots okay at the dr.

    :)
    Kathy
