When you run instead of walk everywhere, you’re more likely to fall and fall hard. That’s what happened to Sissy when Friday afternoon at my parents she was sprinting down the sidewalk in clunky pink snow boots with her hands in her pockets. She tripped and her face scraped over the concrete, as her hands weren’t free to break her fall. When Papa brought her inside, she was upset but not enough for us to realize how bad it was–until a short while later when the swollen lip was accompanied by long scratch marks and a loose front tooth. The scrape above her brow was the worst, but no blood fortunately. As timing would have it, our family Christmas picture was scheduled for yesterday morning. The above photo does not reveal how messed up poor Charlotte’s face looks. Thanks to photo shop and a skilled photographer, though, I will soon post the results of our shoot with a scratch-free little girl. It was just like Mommy who broke her nose in 8th grade playing softball–the day before school pictures!
