I’ve been a fan of Stella and her music since I heard her album Solarium back in the late 90′s. Produced by Howie Beno and with collaborations with artists like Jim Marcus and Van Christie of Die Warzu and Preston Click of My Scarlet Life fame (you Stebites will remember that name). She went on to work with guys like Eric Powell of 16Volt and Ministry which sealed the deal for me being a fan for life. When I heard that Stella was working with Shawn from Slipknot in the project Dirty Little Rabbits I was really curious so I bought the record on iTunes. Man color me impressed. As it sits right now it is my favorite record of 2010 thus far, and I’m not sure anyone will be able to knock it off the thrown. I also had the pleasure of opening their set for them with my band. It was an honor and a privilege. Earlier in the say Stella and I sat down for a bit to talk about music and a bit of a trip down memory lane since she and I share so many of the same influences and a lot of the same acquaintances. Here is what transpired that beautiful Saturday afternoon.
I want to thank Stella for taking the time to chat music with me and to take the time and the energy to maneuver out to the patio at Spicoli’s on crutches to talk to me. I had an awesome time and when they come back in September I will be first in line to see them again! Also I want to thank Amy at The End Records for setting up the interview on such short notice!
