Make a Date for HALLOWEEN on AMC!

Well for years AMC has been doing a great job with their Monster Fest, hours and hours of horror programing to celebrate (in my humble opinion) the greatest holiday of the year.  This year they take it one step further and dish out their first original series dedicated to all things ZOMBI!  Folks feast your eyes on this trailer right here:

WARNING: THIS TRAILER FEATURES SOME ADULT LANGUAGE & VIOLENCE & GORE:

As you can see from the trailer this was spearheaded by Frank Darabont famous for his work with Stephen King books like “The Green Mile” and “The Shawshank Redemption” as well as the Thomas Jane vehicle “The Mist”.  You’d think that would be enough to have me all giddy and happy right?  Well no, that really isn’t even the selling point for me.  What’s the selling point you ask?  The Walking Dead comic book.  If you haven’t read this series yet then get, nay RUN to your nearest comic retailer in my case it happens to be Limited Edition Comics on The Hill in Cedar Falls and pick up the five hardcover books and get yourself caught up on the series.  It is hands down the BEST comic being written today, if not the best comic I’ve ever read (take that WATCHMAN!).

The Walking Dead is more than a book about the shambling dead trying to eat human flesh, but what happens to humanity when the world seems at it’s end.  The book has more twists and turns and the stories are incredibly engaging.  You care about the characters, you care about their struggles and you care about whether they make it to the next day or not.  The Walking Dead is simply the best book going today.

So there, enjoy the trailer and set your DVRs for Halloween on AMC!

Interview with Darrin Huss of Psyche.

So back in April after a couple of failed attempts I got to sit down and chat with Darrin from his home in Germany.  I’ve been a fan of Psyche for years and a few years back Darrin and I got to be friends via Myspace when he told me my music I was writing didn’t suck.  That’s big props from a guy who has the length of a career that Darrin has had in the music business.  Then I was writing a personal blog and I interviewed Darrin via email back then, now with this here fancy blog I was able to actually talk to him over the phone get his words in his voice.  So here is our chat.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

To find out more about Darrin and his music including an upcoming album of songs written with Dwayne Goettel of Skinny Puppy fame check out his website Psyche HQ.
