Anyone who has lost a beloved pet knows how hard it is when they leave us. This week, Jennifer Hildreth’s cat passed away. I know Sam meant so much to Jennifer. No, not everyone understands what it’s like to truly love a pet, but for those of us who do, the pet is part of our family.
The good news is Sam had a long and happy life, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to let him go. As a friend, there’s not much I can do except give Jennifer a chance to remember her wonderful cat.
“We adopted Sam from the Cedar Bend Humane Society several years ago (not sure how many but around 15 years or so). He was an awesome cat and will be hard to replace. He was very friendly and enjoyed people. He loved to sleep on my lap when I watched tv. In the morning he would follow me around until I gave him his morning treat. I even taught him to sit before I gave him his treat. When he was younger he would play fetch with one of his toys. He was truly a wonderful pet and will be missed greatly.”

I know what it is like to have a pet pass away, Our family have lost several many cats, and dogs. It took us 5 years before we got our Grey baby girl Miss Tiggi, Our kitty cat She is the joy of our lives. Even when she gets mouthy when she brings a toy up from downstairs . And yes she also likes ice tea , peaches fresh or canned , and muskmellon
Jennifer I am so very sorry . I hope you find comfort in all of your memories of Sam . I know its hard to lose a pet you love . Sam was Handsome
Jennifer, so sorry to hear about Sam. He is a good looking kitty. Memories of Sam will get you through this time.
Danielle ~ What a wonderful friend to remember Jennifer’s Sam on your blog. I’ve lost 2 cats within 6 months to feline lukemia and each time if felt like my best friend had left me. It is a true mourning when a pet passes, though many will shrug it off and tell you to get over it. Ignore those cold hearted non pet people and mourn your friends passing. May Sam be waiting for Jennifer at the Rainbow Bridge. RIP Sam.
Jennifer, I know exaclty how you feel about losing a pet. A few years ago, we had to put down my dog. It was very hard. Sam was a very pretty cat.
Dear Jennifer, I am so sorry for your loss. I have been through this more times then I care to remember but eventually the heart ache won’t be as bad and you will always have all the wonderful memories of Sam that will put a smile on your face and in your heart. God Bless – Ava
There is nothing better than a handsome orange cat! We have 3 of our own. I lost my first pet a few years ago at age 3. There is nothing worse than losing a pet. Take care and remember Sam will always be with you.
Jennifer, our thoughts are with you and we can empathize. We started a tradition when we lost our first four-legged family member: we placed his favorite toy on the tree at Christmas as an ornament and have continued this tradition. It always reminds us of happy memories. Our hearts, and those of our two four-legged boys, are with you. And Sam is not alone; he’s hang’en with a host of new pals.
