Moo! Happy Halloween

I wasn’t planning on dressing Cubbie up in a full fledged costume for Halloween. I don’t put clothes on him normally, so I was just planning to get him a shirt or something, but I found such a cute costume on sale for about $3, that I just couldn’t resist. I figured it’s Halloween, why not have some fun?

Got milk? Here’s my little cow!

Since we’re judging two pet costume contests this Saturday, maybe we should dress the part as well.

I’m not quite sure how he feels about it… but he initially thought it was a new chew toy and tried to chew his own udders.

Is it me, or is he trying to moo?

Seeing Eye Donkey

In case you missed it, I got the opportunity to share a really unique and sweet story on KWWL.

A horse and donkey recently arrived at Rural Iowa Animal Rescue in Rowley. The two have a special bond.

You can read or watch my story to “see” why they’re so close.

National Pit-Bull-Awareness-Day This Saturday

PRESS RELEASE: This Saturday, October 23rd, is National Pit-Bull-Awareness-Day.

Pit Bulls have continuously garnered negative attention throughout the past few decades for situations that should not be blamed on the breed, but rather the irresponsible owners and back-yard breeders that have given this breed a bad rap.

This day was created in hopes of bringing positive light to the dark situation at hand and educating the public on how to help revitalize a wonderful, family-friendly breed of dog.

Pit Bulls are the number one breed in dog fighting nationwide; and although dog fighting is now punishable as a felony as of 2008; they still seem to garner negative attention from the media for their involvement in the illegal activity.

Although we recognize that some Pit Bulls-like any other breed of dog -can be aggressive and volatile, it is unfair to generalize this assumption to the entire breed as a whole. If we want to fight this discrimination, we must work twice as hard to show our communities how great Pit Bulls can be when raised or rehabilitated in positive environments.

If you are looking for a loyal companion to add to your family, please consider adopting a lovable Pit Bull. Doing so will not only add meaning to your life and the dog’s life, but also help to crusade against the stigma attached to Pit Bulls and Pit Bull owners.

Are you potty training a puppy?

KWWL is gearing up to test a new round of products in our “Does It Really Work?” segment. The final results will air in November.

My product is the Potty Patch. It’s a fake patch of grass that you can use for potty training or just to have in your house so your dog can “go” whenever he/she needs to use the potty.

What I need is someone who is adopting a new puppy and is willing to help me test out the product (hopefully you can even keep it afterward). It would require being interviewed on camera and using a hand held camera to tape your progress.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone who lives in an apartment or condo and doesn’t have a yard, so the potty patch is very practical.

If you’re interested in being part of the story, please send me an email. I can’t guarantee everyone who emails me will be included, but I’d appreciate any help you can give me!

Click here to learn more about the product.

Don’t Forget! Spray Tans for the CBHS

Caribbean Tan and Spa in Cedar Falls is having a spray tan day to benefit the Cedar Bend Humane Society.

On Friday, October 15th proceeds from spray tans will go to the humane society. As an added bonus, some furry friends looking for a home will be hanging out for a little while at the tanning salon.

Last year, the event raised $900 for the Cedar Bend Humane Society.

If you’ve always thought about getting a spray tan but have never done it, this would be a great opportunity to try it out!

Caribbean Tan and Spa is located at the intersection of Hudson Road and Highway 57 in Cedar Falls.

Snack Time?

My parents watched Cubbie on Saturday, and he apparently picked up a bad habit.

I recently wrote about how Kit Kat (one of my dad’s cats) likes to “hunt” in the plants in the backyard.

Well, she often catches animals and brings them inside. She’s caught several mice, and she’s also a big fan of grasshoppers.

According to Mom and Dad, KK caught the grasshoppers and brought them inside. Now here’s Cubbie’s role. My parents say Cubbie ATE the grasshoppers! Gross!

I guess this happened with two separate grasshoppers. What, does he think he’s on Fear Factor??

He won’t be eating grasshoppers around me!
