PRESS RELEASE: This Saturday, October 23rd, is National Pit-Bull-Awareness-Day.
Pit Bulls have continuously garnered negative attention throughout the past few decades for situations that should not be blamed on the breed, but rather the irresponsible owners and back-yard breeders that have given this breed a bad rap.
This day was created in hopes of bringing positive light to the dark situation at hand and educating the public on how to help revitalize a wonderful, family-friendly breed of dog.
Pit Bulls are the number one breed in dog fighting nationwide; and although dog fighting is now punishable as a felony as of 2008; they still seem to garner negative attention from the media for their involvement in the illegal activity.
Although we recognize that some Pit Bulls-like any other breed of dog -can be aggressive and volatile, it is unfair to generalize this assumption to the entire breed as a whole. If we want to fight this discrimination, we must work twice as hard to show our communities how great Pit Bulls can be when raised or rehabilitated in positive environments.
If you are looking for a loyal companion to add to your family, please consider adopting a lovable Pit Bull. Doing so will not only add meaning to your life and the dog’s life, but also help to crusade against the stigma attached to Pit Bulls and Pit Bull owners.
