I have a special connection to a dog featured on our Sunday morning pet segment on August 14th.
A couple months ago, I was informed about a dog left chained to a car in a garage. The family moved away, leaving the dog behind.
I don’t know the full story, but I was told the dog only got food and water because a neighbor walked across the street to give it to the dog.
I got a call asking if I could do anything. Through some effort, I was able to track down the owner, and after several days I got permission to take the dog.
A friend who had a large enough kennel and I drove out of town and picked up the dog. Immediately, he just wanted attention. He was dusty and dirty, but overall seemed okay. I was struck by how friendly the dog was. All he really wanted was to play!
I started calling him Crash because he tended to crash into me unintentionally while he was walking. He is very strong, but he is a big baby! He is a pitbull dog with brindle coloring. Believe me, if I could’ve taken Crash myself, I would have. Instead, I took him to the humane society hoping he’d find his way home.
Crash is now available for adoption at the Cedar Bend Humane Society in Waterloo. Before he was officially on the adoption floor, my friend and I visited him. He was so happy and excited. Really just a loving dog who kept wanting to sit beside me on the bench!
I just want to make sure Crash (known as Forrest at the humane society) finds the good, permanent, loving home he deserves.
I won’t go into every detail of the situation, but I will say this is one of the brightest spots of my job, having some ability to hopefully make a difference.
Let’s find Crash a home! You can see the video of Crash on the Today in Iowa Weekend page. Just click on the pet segment from 8/14. He loves to roll and have his belly rubbed.
