Stinky Cubbie

Cubbie has always loved to roll in the stinkiest stuff he can find.

He has a great fondness for rolling in worms. I have no idea how this “habit” got started, but he’s always done it. Even as a puppy I would find him scratching at the dirt (getting the worm up), and then rolling his entire head and back in the worm. Nasty!

When we started going for walks with another dog at a pond this year, Cubs found something just as stinky to roll in: raccoon poo.  He got a bath EVERYTIME we went on a walk.

During one of Cubbie’s visits to my parent’s house, he managed to stink up my dad’s entire truck by once again rolling in some type of poo. My dad didn’t notice until Cubbie was already in the truck. Too late! So the truck stunk horribly for quite awhile.

I recently went on vacation to visit some friends, so of course my parents watched Cubbie for me. It wouldn’t be a stay at the grandparents without something happening.

I guess my dad took Cubbie with him to check his turtle traps. Yes, people ask my dad to get turtles out of their ponds so they can put fish in those ponds without the turtles eating them. Anyway, Dad took Cubbie with him to bait the traps.

From the story I heard from Dad, he had a bucket of dead fish for the traps, and Cubbie managed to knock over the bucket and proceeded to roll in the dead fish.

Then my mom’s version of the story comes in to play. My dad came home (ranting about the smell), and gave Cubbie a bath with the garden hose and cat shampoo! Poor Cubs! I bet that water was freezing.

After Cubbie, my dad spent the day cleaning his truck to get rid of the fish smell. :) My dad needs to learn, Cubbie always finds stinky stuff to roll in. Maybe Cubbie should start wearing a raincoat or something when he’s around my dad…
