Animal lovers: Mark your calendar for the Pet Care Fair, scheduled Saturday, April 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Grant Wood School Gymnasium, 1930 Lakeside Drive in Iowa City.
The event, which is sponsored by the Grant Wood Neighborhood Association, the City of Iowa City Office of Neighborhood Services, and Friends of the Animal Center Foundation, is free and open to the public.
Pet owners, as well as people who are considering adopting a pet, are invited and encouraged to participate.
The Pet Care Fair will provide education, advice, and tips on how to work with animals to create a positive, nurturing environment for both pets and owners. Pet experts at informational booths will be available to answer pet owners’ questions, and provide information on proper care for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and other companion animals.
The schedule of pet demonstrations is as follows:
1:00 Dog Training is FUN! presented by SPOT & Co.
1:30 Dog Bite Prevention, presented by the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center
2:00 Keeping Your Pet Healthy Outdoors, presented by Bright Eyes & Bushy Tails Veterinary Hospital
2:30 Dog Obedience Club demonstration, presented by the Iowa City Dog Obedience Club
3:00 How to be Pet-Ready if Disaster Strikes, presented by The Pet Sitters, LLC
Fair-goers will also have the chance to meet animals available for adoption from the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center. Attendees should leave their own pets at home for this event, but bring their questions about their pets or pet ownership.
