“I like animals better than humans” — Betty White

Betty White is well-known for her comedy (I find her hilarious), but she’s also well-known for being an animal activist.

Barbara Walters once asked White if she likes animals better than humans. The longtime animal advocate said yes, without hesitation.

Later, White was asked if she remembered once saying she liked animals more than people she responded:

“That’s true.  I don’t make it a secret.  They never lie to you.  You know that when they tell you something, they mean it.  They just love you, it’s that simple.”

Betty White hits the nail on the head.

People can be cruel. People can be negative. People can be selfish and closed-minded.

I believe our age of technology and social media only adds to the potential negativity. People hide behind a computer screen as they send an email or leave a comment online. Too many people forget everything we do and say impacts other people as well.

On the other hand, animals love unconditionally. Animals build us up. Animals give and give and expect very little in return.

“Animals don’t lie. Animals don’t criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do,” said Betty White.

So yes, I believe I agree with Betty White. I do like my dogs better than I like most people.

You can say what you want about me. You can think what you want about me. I learned a long time ago not to let other people (especially people who don’t know me and all I have done and continue to do for animals) bring me down.

I have a good life, and every day I get to come home to two of the greatest dogs in the world – THAT makes me happy.

I agree 110% with liking animals better than some people. I’ve recently had some personal issues that made me somewhat anti social. Each day I would get on with my day counting the hours until I could go home to my cats. Everyday I would come home and they would be excited to see me – the kitten would follow me everywhere (including the bathroom), purr and beg to be snuggled. It was the best pick me up. Also when had the flu a few weeks ago and was stuck in bed the cats took turns laying with me – they didn’t care how sick I was they just wanted to make me feel better. Where would we be without the unconditional love from our pets.
