Danielle, I found this in the Waterloo courier. Not sure if you can post this or not, but this literally tore my heart out and I thought maybe you could post it to try and raise money for Hope’s recovery and medical expenses…how could someone do this to that sweet little face?

CHARLES CITY – A little dog named Hope is in need of a helping hand after being shot in the face and leg.
The female beagle was found Thursday afternoon near Charles City, according to Sybil Soukup, executive director of the Humane Society of North Iowa.
The man who found her saw something small tumbling across the roadway while driving home from work.
When he stopped to check on the dog, he found she had a mangled front leg and a bloodied and broken jaw.
The man had trouble finding anyone to help, according to Soukup. He finally called the Humane Society of North Iowa and was told to bring her to the shelter in Mason City right away.
The Humane Society has chosen the name Hope for the beagle.
Soukup said the man who found Hope, who wishes to remain anonymous, “never gave up hope that he would eventually find someone who would help.”
The Humane Society’s local veterinarian referred Hope to a specialist at Iowa Veterinary Specialties in Des Moines, who determined a gunshot wound caused the injuries to her face and leg.
The leg injury was so severe that Hope’s leg had to be amputated.
Her injuries indicate it is likely she was thrown from a moving vehicle on the highway.
“It’s terrible to think that anyone could point a gun at this innocent little dog and pull the trigger,” Soukup said. “It’s worse to think that she may have been thrown from a moving vehicle.”
Although Iowa Veterinary Specialties agreed to provide treatment for half the normal cost, Hope’s medical bills will be several thousand dollars.
“We don’t budget for these kinds of incidents, but we just couldn’t turn her away,” Soukup said. “We’re hopeful the community will help us with her medical expenses so Hope can have the happy ending she deserves instead of the cruel hand she was dealt.”
Those who wish to help can send contributions to: Humane Society of North Iowa, Attn: “Hope,” 2700 S. Birch Drive, Mason City, IA 50401.
Anyone who has information on who may be responsible for Hope’s injuries is asked to contact the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department at 641-228-1821.
