Ever have a friend you just know you are going to have a blast with when you hang out? I feel that way about our noon show producer Briana Denney. She is a real kick in the pants. By that I mean that when we hang out it’s an all out party. We laugh, we joke, we are crazy together and no amount of weirdness is off limits.
Yesterday she convinced me to go Kayaking with her at Big Woods Lake. I was beyond hesitant but agreed because I will try anything once. After we loaded up the kayaks we headed to the lake and things got really real fast!
We pushed off in the kayaks and off we went. I was nervous to use the paddles and really worried the whole thing would flip on me but once I got the hang of it everything went smoothly.
The water was calm and we paddled around the entire lake joking, laughing and having a great time.
It was a nice way to keep busy and not think about things. As silly as it may sounds I thought about how something like Kayaking on the lake is a good analogy for life. I was scared and hesitant and really didn’t want to take a risk that could end up with me soaking wet flipped upside down in a kayak.
But something as simple as trying something new lead to a great experience that was a ton of fun. Taking risks is just a part of life and if you keep yourself open to them the rewards can be beyond great.
You aim you fail..or you aim you reap some great reward…in the end you are better off for trying it.

Natasha,
I have come to realize as I get older that the things I am hesitant to do, once I do them I have a lot of fun and find it to be a much more rewarding time that I thought it would be. Good for you to try new things!
I have just spent some time reading your blog here, Natasha, and I like the slant you take on things =) I agree, we can’t be too afraid to fail that we don’t just TRY. our intern recently said about a project we are attempting “at least we’ll fail at something awesome instead of succeeding at something lame!” so true!
