Tomorrow right after work I will hop into my trusty SUV and head to the most wonderful place on earth –otherwise known as Minnetonka, Minnesota! I cannot wait to see my family and most importantly give my little brother a huge hug! I got a text from my sister today telling me she dropped him off at Coffman Union for an overnight stay which is what incoming freshmen have an option of doing to adjust to soon to be college life!
Hard to believe I was working at the computer labs in Coffman when I went to college there and now my little bro is following in my footsteps. Time in Minnie always goes so quick but it’s so wonderful to be able to see everyone and spend some time in the house where I grew up. Miranda Lambert has a song called “The House that built me” and it reminds me of my home.
The place I grew up, went through the rebellious teenage years, where I can still be completely myself and really don’t have a care in the world! Home is a very special place.
I already know my mom will pile food into various containers for me to bring back, they will make me walk under the Koran when I leave to keep me safe and that they will stand in the big front window until I drive away. They also won’t rest until they know I have arrived safely back here in Cedar Falls. Some things are wonderfully predictable.
Sunday I want to come home early because Mr. New will be coming back from an out of town baseball game with the boys. He tells me he will try to be back as soon as possible and he will “run back himself” if it means getting to see me sooner.
His plan is to draw me a bath where I can read a book and relax while he cooks dinner. Such simple pleasures but I cannot wait. He adds a dash of magic to my life and I’m not sure where it was before.
Hard to believe where I am now from where I was a few months ago. Thank you time for healing my wounds!
