Power of Kindness

Today when I was grabbing a cup of coffee before finishing my Christmas shopping-I had a moment of reflection. I had bags in my car, my purse contained a million receipts and I was generally in a chaotic state of mind. I had SO much to do and so little time and I really wanted to get everyone a nice gift before the snow hit so I wouldn’t have to head out in the bad weather. It was all I could focus on.

As I got to the drive thru and waited for my drink the woman behind the counter casually told me that my coffee had been purchased for me by the lady ahead of me in line.

All of a sudden everything stopped. The chaos, the thinking, the rush and the crazy busy mentality …all of it.

I was overcome by a rush of appreciation and positive energy. Without missing a beat I grabbed my credit card and said…”Well I want to pay for the person behind me then”

A chain of kindness. Something that cost so little but meant so much. A simple gesture that evoked me to change my entire perspective on the day. We all know to pay it forward but how many of us actually implement it? I am just as guilty of not doing it as much as I could. It’s amazing the power of a simple act of kindness. One act of kindness can literally change a persons day. It’s pure energy that travels from one soul to another.

As I drove away with my mug of steaming brew I took a deep cleansing breath. All of a sudden the chaos didn’t seem so bad. Nothing did. I was counting my blessings. Thank you kind soul for helping me stop and realize the power of kindness.

Not that I’m not interested and tuned into all the other sad events that have taken place the past weeks, but this was the kind of story that really I needed to read right now! Finally something cheerful!
    Thank-you!
