Appreciation Time: Nikki Newbrough

Everyone has had that co-worker that makes them smile despite how you are feeling on a given day.  I think that honor would best be bestowed on Nikki Newbrough! This bundle of energy always has a smile on her face. Even in moments of stress she finds a way to bring laughter to those around her. You cannot help but smile when she is around. There is a very good reason she is better than a cup of coffee in the morning! She’s like that little sister that you want to protect and take care of but is very good at her job and a serious dedicated journalist at the same time! This week I am offering up appreciation for the lovely Nikki! Who have you appreciated today?

Appreciation Time: Eileen Loan

I think I am going to start a segment on this blog where I can show my appreciation for someone in my life. This is my first entry on that and I hope to do it weekly or bi-weekly depending on when the mood hits. When was the last time you simply told someone how much you appreciated them in your life? Far too often we reap the benefits of a certain friendship or relationship without ever really expression to that person what they mean. Time is often our best friend and worst enemy. Before you know it situations and life changes. We too often think we have all the time in the world to be with someone but before you know it things can change. I learned this recently when I moved to the Cedar Valley and suddenly realized how much Seth (one of my best friends) meant to me. Only when I didn’t have him around did I understand how much he meant to me. Now when we talk on the phone I try my best to convey how much he means to me.

So for today’s appreciation I want to talk about Eileen Loan!

Eileen is one of those people who can brighten your day. When I first started working the early morning shift I didn’t know what kind of relationship we would have. Over the course of three months I now consider her a very good friend. She is always there when I need to talk and is someone I can truly trust at the station. She has an easy laugh and a caring heart. When I need to talk she is always willing to take a few minutes out of her busy day to find time for me. We enjoy going on walks on our break together and grabbing a cup of coffee or a sandwich from the local deli. Sometimes I will look at her during the morning show and we will both just burst out laughing. We just seem to “get each other” and she has played a big sister kind of role for me. More people should be as caring and kind. Thanks for being you Eileen! You simply rock.

Ringing the Salvation Army bell with Eileen!
