I can do it!

This summer, my husband and I have played together on a coed recreational sand volleyball team.  Because of my work schedule, I’ve only been able to play three or four games all year.  This past Sunday was the last chance I knew I’d have to play all year.  But Floyd was really worried and didn’t think I should.  I insisted that I’ve played while pregnant before, and I wasn’t going to give up the last game I’d be able to play in.  Sure, no laying out or diving to hit the ball– leave that to my teammates… But darn it, I can still do it!  And I got my way.  He gave me some crazy eyes after I went to my knees for one hit.  But I said “Hey.  I’m fine.  And the baby will be too!”  It’s important for moms-to-be to exercise, and every book tells you to keep up with activities you would’ve done before you were pregnant, as long as it’s still comfortable for you.  They also say don’t go crazy with it and try something you’ve never done before.  To that end, I agree, and will hold to that!  But as long as I feel good enough to be active, I want to be active.  So Floyd will just have to grin and bear it.  Lucky for him, summer is drawing to a close, and volleyball season is just about over.  So outdoor activity will naturally slow down as the day baby Drake is due draws closer.

Kera, you know your limitations and Floyd is just a protective “Father – To – Be”. Yes, it is the BEST thing to do, IS TO STAY ACTIVE. Healthy for the baby and you. The labor will go much easier too and won’t add stress to the man hood or you. Keep up the awesome things you’re doing. You’re baby will let you know IF you do to much. Take Care.

Exercise is good for both mom & baby and women who are able to exercise during their preganancy seem to have an easier time with delivery.
Stick with her Floyd, she’s the mom, she knows best!

I know exercise is important and I may be old-fashioned but do be careful.

Exercise is great – but make sure you stay hydrated by drinking lots of water!

I also played sand volleyball while pregnant (as I did before I was). There were a few times I sat out for a volley or two to get water and sit for a bit, but I loved being out there. I didn’t have a problem with it, but I know my teammates were a little weary because they didn’t want to run into me! Very nice of them!
