I don’t expect a big bouquet of flowers or anything fancy on Valentine’s Day. Simple gestures of love and affection are just as delightful for me–and last longer to boot! I actually got home at a decent time Valentine’s Day Eve, and Floyd was hard at work preparing a wonderful meal. He weathered the cold to stand outside and grill steaks. He also whipped up potatoes and stuffed mushrooms. He even had chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge for dessert. There was also a card sitting on the counter from him with a box of chocolates, and a hand-drawn card “from Drake” which included some beautiful scribbles from our little man! It was just the sweetest evening–even with Drake still not feeling the best. I am a firm believer that the sentiment and effort put into a gift is far more valuable than how much money was spent, and for that–Floyd always gets an A+ in my book!
