Infertility Awareness Week is coming up in a few days.

I spend a lot of my time here advocating for adoption, talking about my struggle to balance a full-time job with mommyhood, and venting about my frustrations with inequality between races.

But next Monday, April 21st, I’m going to be talking about something tough.

Something personal.

And to be honest, it’s a topic that’s pretty painful for me.

But I think it’s important for other women — for other families — to know they’re not alone and to have hope that things will get better.

Because they will.

There’s a great line-up of people to meet.

So if you – or your friends — or your neighbors — or your family members are treading this tough water, I hope you can come out to this free event Monday night.

Because no one should feel alone.

The peer lead infertility support group has been one of the most amazing group of women I have ever met. They are kind, they listen, and are a shoulder to cry on when needed. They supported my husband and me in our journey to fight infertility and we were one of the lucky couples who were able to become pregnant after going through treatments in Iowa City. I feel privledged to know these strong women and men and I hope that anyone traveling the infertility road will take the opportunity to talk to these brave individuals. Good luck with the open house!

We experienced secondary infertility, and it is the most painful and isolating experience we’ve ever endured. It is so wonderful that a group like this exists. Thank you.
