Friday Night Football

Every Friday, our KWWL team goes out and shoots a bunch of games in eastern Iowa. Our very own Lauren Squires is one of the fine folks that gets some great highlights.  This weeks she did a special behind the scenes look at what it’s like.

Lauren’s blog is one of the best at KWWL, with all sorts of fun blog postings.  Click here to check it out.  It’s called Squires Scribbles.

Pre-Game Show

Here is a look at Ron during the pre-game show.  It’s a little wet out, but at least we brought a tent!

John Wilmer was busy doing sideline reports during the show. John played football for AP.

Get ready for the big game

Photobucket

Here we are getting set for the big game.  We are doing lots of tech checks to make sure everything is runs smoothly for the game.

Here’s the row that controls it all.  Jason is closest to the camera.  He’s the Big producer for the show.  Next is Jeremy is Directing the show.  We also have a technical director that actually punches the buttons.

Don’t rain on my parade

Photobucket

The rain just keeps coming.  People are still showing up for the game, but I’m sure some are waiting for the rain to go away.

Here’s a shot of one of our KWWL crews up in the air during the game.  It’s a wet job tonight!

It’s like rain…on your first home game

Photobucket

Just after I took a few pictures of our set, it started to rain.  So we had to quickly cover up the cameras and set to make sure nothing got wet.  Jeff Kennedy and Mark Schnackenberg say it will be nice tonight…so I hope they are right.

A view from the field

It’s a beautiful view from the field.  Ron Steele will be in a great location with the field right behind him.

A Big Production

Img_0109 KWWL has been getting ready for this game for more than a month.  To make sure we can do the game right, we even brought in a production truck and hired some free-lance staff for the day.

Here’s a look inside the truck.  There are six big monitors and inside each of them is 6-8 smaller screens.  It’s pretty incredible!

Our pre-game show starts at 6:30 with Ron Steele.  It will be exciting, so make sure you watch tonight at 6:30!

John Huff is talking here with show producer Jason Mortvedt about all the commercials we need to fit in.  John will count the commercials during the show to make sure they all get in!

Here’s a picture of me sitting where I need to be during the game.  I’ll actually be co-producing the show and making sure it all times out.

Watch out for wet concrete

Img_0104 When all the concrete is new, it’s hard to know what’s dry and what’s not.  So it gets a little scary when you are walking around.

When in doubt, walk on the grass!  That’s what I did.  But I’m told the concrete will be dry before game time.  So for people going to the game…no worries!
