The secret to losing weight and getting fit is belief. You have to believe it is possible. You have to believe in yourself! This belief must stand the test of time, doubters, tough workouts, mornings when you don’t want to get out of bed and of course those pesky food vices. The belief in yourself must be stronger than any excuse that you can manufacture. Excuses are powerful, especially when they start sounding like valid reasons for not doing something.
I laugh when I hear people say they don’t exercise because they don’t have the time. It’s like they stole my old line. I would always say I’m too busy with work or something when the actual truth really was I just refused to make time for fitness, because it wasn’t a priority. A friend of mine, who’s also a divorced mother of three, puts any excuse I could possibly concoct to shame. Somehow she finds a way every morning(she doesn’t miss a day) to workout, go to work and then go home to take care of her boys at night. And to add complication to her situation, she lost her home during the “Floods of 2008″. She has every excuse in the world at her disposal if she wanted to avoid the gym. Instead “Marty Muscle” as she known in the OXF world is in excellent physical condition and a great example for those who say it’s not possible to make exercise a priority.
Belief has to be absolute without a degree of doubt. You have to believe getting fit and healthy is not only something you WANT to do but also something you HAVE to do. Because some morning when you don’t WANT to get out of that warm cozy bed for your morning workout and you’ve hit the snooze button three or four times the power of belief kicks in. You believe that there is nothing that will stop you from being the best person you can be.
