Lauren,
Thanks for the blog!!! Our son, Patrick, is traveling with the corps on this trip. He plays baritone. I’ve enjoyed keeping up to date on what is going on and looking forward to reading more.
Take alot pf pictures of the place your staying.
daughtewr Katie cymbal player try to get lots of video of cymbal line for 6 pm news!
Thank you for your updates. Our son Tom (from Arlington Heights, Il) is with the Colts… while we have talked and texted with him, your updates give an added perspective. If you come across him (he’s a baritone player), please say hello for us.
A piano student/friend of mine is in the Colts colorguard.[Rebekah Hoeger -pronounced HAY-grr] She’s probably the youngest one of the marchers - or at least she was last summer. I have worked on the cooktruck when it was in Delhi a couple of summers, and have a grandson who is now starting his 4th or 5th year with the Colt Cadets. Also, my daughter is a Cadet colorguard instructor, and her husband [who is also the H.S. band director at Clear Creek /Amana High School]is a Cadet brass instructor - so I guess you can see why I’m following you with such interest. Have you met ” Bob and Mary” yet? They are an older couple -he drives truck, and she usually is in charge of the souveniers- They are really a couple of very special people. The Colts call her “Grandma”. Being you have nothing else to do [hah!] if you run into her, tell her I said “hullo”, and that I’ve misplaced her address - Drat!- I’m sure you’ve met Greg Orwell, also - He’s sooooooo cool - and when he’s not in-over-his-head with a trip -he’s a real stitch!! I can only imagine how tired you must be, and what a trouper you are, and doing so well as jack-of-all-trades. I’m impressed, and your feeds are so interesting [you and your "network", that is] You really should follow the Colts around for a week in the summer, and watch them as they practicein the heat all day and into the evening with either MORE practice or a show, and then hop on the busses and travel all night to the next stop, and start all over again. Just think of the miles and stories you could log. But plan on a week to recuperate - and THEY go all summer. THE COLTS ARE AMAZING,aren’t they? But then again, I think you’ve figured that out by now, haven’t you! Any chance you could follow the Colts off and on, as they start their season, and tour this summer? You are doing such a good job reporting on them, why stop now!! Keep up the good work, and tell your bosses at KWWL thanks for all the coverage.
Iam glad you got to play the drums thats awesome.
I played on the bass line for the Colts for this parade and I just wanted to let everyone know Lauren did so well we asked her to march the parade with us. Needless to say we were quite disappointed when she turned us down… o well it’s a great video/memory.
