I have a blog!!
I guess I should give you a little introduction of who I am. As you probably know, I am the weekend meteorologist. I love weather! I knew in 8th grade that I wanted to pursue a career in weather. Our class spent one week on weather and I was hooked. I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and studied meteorology and Cornhusker football. If you’re from Nebraska or have relatives there, you know how important Nebraska football is to the state. Since I was born and raised in Nebraska, it was the natural pick for me.
During my college career, I met my best friend, Mark. After I graduated with my meteorology degree, I started working at KLKN in Lincoln. Mark then moved to Iowa where we got to endure a 5 hour away long distance relationship. Not fun! Luckily he proposed to me in January and we were married in my hometown 1 1/2 years later.
Marriage…what an eye opener. I didn’t eat healthy in college or during my single days. I lived off of cereal and Hamburger Helper during those days. Now I was required to fix meals three times a day! Eeeekkk!! Mark didn’t force me to but that’s just how we were raised. Husband brings home the bacon, wife cooks it.
What a learning experience. First I started off easy. A lot of Hamburger Helper and sandwiches. But that got boring FAST! I finally decided to wander into new territory, cook books and unknown recipes. I’ve burned many meals, threw meals out and cried over others. But I have found I enjoy cooking new desserts, main dishes, and salads. “A Side of Weather” blog is my way of sharing recipes I love, hate and a little bit of my life with you! Enjoy!

Welcome to KWWL! You have such a pleasant voice. I enjoy your coverage of the weather.
Looking forward to your blog. I can’t wait to see what new recipes I have a chance to try from your blog. I love exchanging recipes,so if you ever want to exchange any, just send me a message either through my e-mail or through my facebook page. I literally have thousands. I also love to cook. I’ve subscribed to the magazine ” Taste of home ” for many, many years. It’s beautifully put together with pictures of many of the recipes in it. For many year’s,I faithfully made at least two of the recipes from that months magazine. I highly recommend this magazine if you don’t already subscribe to it. P.S. Love the name of your blog. Very creative.
Welcome to Iowa!! I, like Donna, get the Taste of Home too. I get the yearly books in hardcover for Taste of Home, Quick Cooking and Country Cooking and I love them all. Great recipes and ingredients you would have at home. I will look forward to trying some of your recipes Denice!
Thanks for checking out my blog! My mother-in-law does get the Taste of Home Quick Cooking magazine. I have an entire stack at home I am just starting to look at. I will definitely be trying some of those recipes too.
