Plant markers

We try to keep the kids involved in the Vinton Youth Garden even after we put the actual Garden to bed for the winter.

This means we have to find something for the kids to do at least once a month. One of the meetings is a popcorn party where they shell, pop and eat the popcorn that they grew and harvested this season. That isn’t this month.

This month we will be making some bed/plant markers. I got some 2″ terra cotta pots. I have found in the past that the kids LOVE to paint pots. These are a lot smaller, but they should be able to paint a couple each. I want them to paint them with the name of a plant, for example, Pepper, Tomato, Brussel Sprouts, Potatoes… anything that we will be planting this year. And then we can put them in the beds near those plants so that anyone walking through the Garden knows what the kids are growing.

I hope they look something like this (photo from Walmart.com):

I am sure they will be even better….

Dig it!
