Burn bans continue across much of eastern Iowa (see map below). Click here to get specific information on each county.
I am tracking a front that is drifting south and will bring us a slight chance of a shower/storm Wednesday and Thursday. The rain chances are not very good (20% each day). Many locations will remain dry and if you don’t get rain with this front…dry weather will continue through early next week. Here is the potential rain forecast from Tuesday evening to Thursday evening.

In addition to the dry weather it is going to be HOT. Highs will be in the 90s through next week. Some days will be low 90s and others will be upper 90s.
We will be under a ridge of high pressure Friday through Tuesday. The ridge flattens out a bit on Tuesday (more of a west to east flow) but it will keep our weather hot and dry. Here is a compilation of the 500 mb chart for the morning of each day noted above each image posted below.

Here is a look at the forecast heat index for Tuesday next week.
The lawns and crops are hurting due to the heat and no rain. Here is one example of how the drought is impacting the corn.

Photo above was taken north of Clarksville by Austin Henning.
If you have recent photo on how the drought is impacting your grass or crops email me at schnack@kwwl.com. I want to compile a group of photos to show people how bad the drought really is in eastern Iowa.
