1902: Unseasonably cool air settled across Iowa during the early morning hours resulting in record low temperatures in many areas. At Des Moines the low of 50 F established a daily record that has not been bested in more than a century since. The coldest readings occurred in west central and northwestern Iowa where a few stations fell all the way into the upper 30s. The lowest reported temperatures included 41 F at Carroll, Guthrie Center, and Harlan, 40 F at Atlantic and Sheldon, 38 F at Larrabee and Plover, and 37 F at Sibley. Light frost was reported near Greenfield.

11 August 1999 → A rare tornado touched down in downtown Salt Lake City, UT. Trees were uprooted and windows were shattered by the F2. The Delta Center, home of the Utah Jazz, incurred roof damage. There was 1 fatality and more than 100 injured. |

11 August 2011 → Del Rio, TX received 4.47″ of rain, which was more than the total they had received during the entire previous eleven months. 3.40″ of the deluge occurred in one hour. |
