Hot and dry weather is expected through Friday. What happens this weekend us up in the air. It will all depend on what Isaac does. Isaac is expected to make landfall in Louisiana Tuesday. From there it is hard to say exactly how it will impact Iowa and if it will impact us at all. Here is the forecast path of Isaac from the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Notice how the tropical depression is forecast to be in NW Missouri by Saturday morning. Now that is not for certain. There is a cold front approaching from the northwest of Iowa this weekend. The front will help it turn right (east) but exactly when that happens is unknown at this time. Here are a number of computer models tracks on Isaac. There is a wide range of forecast tracks…anywhere between Kentucky and Kansas.

I will put a chance of showers/storms in the forecast Saturday for Isaac and Sunday for the cold front.

Here is the rain forecast due to Isaac from Monday evening to Saturday evening. Notice how close it gets into Iowa but only for a small portion of the state.

I will continue to track Isaac and its potential impacts on Iowa for the weekend.
