It was a hot day as high temperatures reached the 90s. We will stay dry tonight but there is a chance of a stray shower or a few sprinkles Friday morning. Temperatures on Friday will be near 90 degrees again.

A cold front is forecast to move across the state Saturday and Sunday. There will be a pretty good chance of showers/storms Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Here is the forecast position of the front Saturday morning.

I am not anticipating any severe weather as the front crosses the state. I do like that everyone will see rain and some spots will see more than one inch of rain. Here is the rain forecast for Thursday evening to Sunday evening.

The weekend rain will be VERY helpful because the Drought Monitor released this morning shows the extreme drought conditions across Iowa is expanding from 62% of the state last week to 68% this week.

After this chance of rain, high pressure will bring plenty of sunshine to the area Monday/Tuesday with cooler temperatures (highs near 80). A warm front is forecast to move northeast across the state Wednesday and Thursday with highs warming back to near 90 by Thursday.
