Wednesday will be warm and breezy ahead of an approaching cold front. High temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s will make it the warmest day of the next seven. The front is forecast to be approaching NW Iowa by Wednesday evening. Here is the Wednesday evening map.

The chance of showers/storms will be pretty close to the front. The front will be in eastern Iowa Thursday morning with a continuing chance of showers/storms. No severe weather is expected with the front. The map below shows the position of the cold front Thursday morning.

Rain amounts with the front will range from 0.25-0.75” of rain. The map below is the rain forecast from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening.

If you go back and look at the Thursday evening surface map you will see high pressure over Montana. The high is forecast to track southeast and keep our weather dry and cooler than normal (but comfortable) through the weekend.

There have been a few counties in Iowa that have dropped the burn bans (Bremer and Jackson).

4:45 PM UPDATED
Linn County will drop the burn ban Wednesday morning at 8:00.

Here is the latest map.
