I have been gone for a week but I am now back and so are my forecast posts on the blog. It has been pretty cold during the last couple of mornings with temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Here are the lows from this morning.

The photo below was taken this morning showing the frost in Winneshiek County. It was taken by Joyce Meyer.

The low temperatures tonight will not be as cold Tuesday morning. High temperatures Tuesday will be the warmest of the next seven days. Some locations will be near 80 degrees. Tuesday through early next week the highs will be near 70 each day.
High pressure across the Midwest and Great Lakes will keep our weather dry through the weekend. Each day will be mostly sunny through Saturday with the exception of Friday. A weak cold front will push south through the area but just a few clouds will come from the passage of the front. The front is forecast to be located north of Iowa Friday morning (see map below).

The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) 8-14 day outlook (Oct 2-8) has below normal temperatures and near normal precipitation for Iowa.
