1989: The highest barometric pressure ever recorded in Iowa occurred with a reading of 31.18 inches of Mercury (1056 millibars) at Sioux City.
1968: A snow storm affected much of Iowa on December 21-22 with the heaviest snow falling across western, northwestern, and northern portions of the state. Reported storm total accumulations included 10.2 inches at Sioux City, 10.7 inches at Onawa, 11.0 inches at Algona, 13.0 inches at Rock Rapids, 14.0 inches at Sheldon, and 15.5 inches at Le Mars.
