1983: Unseasonably warm weather resulted in a high temperature of 81 F at Des Moines making this the earliest date of the year on which the temperature has ever reached 80 degrees at that location. A high temperature of 81 F was also reported at Keosauqua and the temperature peaked at 80 F at Fairfield, Lamoni, and half a dozen locations in southwestern Iowa from Logan down to Clarinda.
