2001: An intense low pressure system produced strong winds across Iowa with most of the state reporting wind gusts in excess of 50 mph and an 82 mph gust recorded at Storm Lake.
2000: A snow storm produced accumulations across most of Iowa with only about the southwestern quarter of the state escaping the snow. Reported snowfall amounts included 1.7 inches at Des Moines, 5.2 inches at Mason City, 8.0 inches at Algona and Emmetsburg, 11.0 inches at Estherville, and 13.2 inches at Sibley.
