Increasing Humidity this Weekend

Our stretch of warm weather has begun in eastern Iowa. Today is one of the “cooler” days. Highs reach the low 80s to near 90° this afternoon. Humidity stays on the low side today, keeping things comfortably warm. A few showers and storms track through this afternoon into the early evening (severe weather risk is low). Not everyone sees rain today and some will only see sunshine on this Friday.

Tonight, as the temperatures fall, we feel a little more of the moisture in the air. If you’re planning a campfire, bring the water and a light blanket as overnight lows fall into the mid-60s.

Humidity slightly increases again during the day Saturday. Temperatures rocket into the 90s for most of the area tomorrow. The combination of heat and humidity brings the concept of heat index – how warm it feels outside.

Heat indices near 100° not only for Saturday afternoon but also on Sunday, as well.

Strong winds pick up on Saturday and continue into mid-week.
