Last winter we saw a fairly strong El Nino (warmer-than-normal sea surface temperature) event over the equatorial Pacific. Now things have changed, and a moderate La Nina (colder-than-normal) is developing. In the Midwest, El Nino usually brings about milder winters…although last winter was an exception to that…La Nina typically means colder winter weather. Here’s a link to learn more…
