This Doesn’t Look Right.

A couple of posts ago, I mentioned that our tomato-in-a-bag’s hanger came out of the tree.  It appeared fine at the time… but apparently it took a bit to show the damage.

This isn't much bigger than a week ago and it looks like it needs to be watered. However, it had just rained plenty...

Upon closer inspection, I think it is toast….

It looks like it got smashed into the side and scraped. I wish I had looked closer to begin with.

I’ll probably pull this one out and plant something else.  Maybe a yellow squash.  Dwayne thinks it will be too heavy and that may be, but I’ll try it out…. assuming I can get it into the bag without too much damage to the bag or the plant!

Dig it!

About your upside down tomato planter. They are very heavy. I planed some strawberry plants a strawberry planter and my husband had to reinforce the hook with a fence post in the ground a backwards angle to support it. I let my strawberry in the shade for a week to recover from the transplant shock. They did struggle for a week or so, and the two on the bottom looked dead. Now there is some new growth on all the plants even the two I thought were dead. So I am hopeful they will make it.

Thanks Mary. I was told they get to be around 35 pounds because of all the dirt. I used potting soil to help a bit. I put in a yellow summer squash when the tomato died and checked it yesterday after all the rain finally stopped. It had the original leaves wilted but new ones growing and at least two flowers! I am looking forward to some fresh vegetables!
