Thursday will be a carbon copy of today. A few clouds will develop in the afternoon with highs in the low 90s and the heat index as high as 105.

A cold front is forecast to track across Iowa Friday with a chance of showers/storms. Here is the forecast map for Friday morning.

At this point it doesn’t look like we will have heavy or widespread rain with this front. Here is the rain forecast from Thursday evening to Friday evening.

July 17 QPF Fri

The cold front will bring us relief from the high heat and humidity this week. High temperatures this weekend will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Saturday will be dry with plenty of sunshine, but there is a chance of showers/storms Sunday.

We will be in a northwest flow through next week. Any little disturbance in the atmosphere could trigger a shower/storm in this flow. Timing of these rain chances will need to be taken one day at a time next week. We will continue to track the situation as next week gets closer.
