Possible Heat Wave This Weekend

Today will be one of the more comfortable days we see for a while. A nearly stationary front along the Iowa-Minnesota line brings a few showers and isolated storms to the area today. Severe weather chances are low for today but storms may produce some stronger winds and hail. Overnight, scattered rain chances continue with lows falling to near 60°.

The humidity today won’t be too bad but that begins to change for your Friday.  The front to our north becomes a warm front and tracks away to the north. A southwesterly wind pulls in warm air for the next few days. Highs on Friday reach at least the low 80s for everyone. There will be a slight uptick in humidity tomorrow but there’s nothing slight about humidity for the weekend.

Highs Saturday through Monday reach the 90s across eastern Iowa and the humidity will be no less than uncomfortable.

Make sure to practice heat safety tips to enjoy the weather. In addition to the heat and humidity, we will have breezy to windy conditions Saturday through Tuesday.
