Record Heat Possible This Weekend

This weekend’s forecast features the “triple H” = hazy, hot and humid. Plentiful sunshine helps temperatures today reach the 90s for all of eastern Iowa. On top of that, winds today come from a mainly southwesterly direction, meaning that it will continuously pull in warm air but also the winds pull humidity into the area. Winds today will be strong and gusty.

Air conditioning units will be on in full force this weekend. With heat and humidity like this, it is so important that you stay hydrated and always check the back seat before leaving your car.

We don’t see much relief from the humidity overnight. Lows fall to near 70° with breezy winds. Tomorrow, we make a better run for record highs. Once again, we soar into the low to mid 90s. Some record highs for the date tomorrow (June 11th) are from the 1920s and 1930s. Sunshine (and wind once again) will be abundant again for Sunday.
